Los Hermanos Lovo: a Salvadoran Chanchona accumulation from Leesburg, Virginia

For a higher quality version of this video, please click on this link: www.youtube.com More Information Here: www.folkways.si.edu On September 13, two days before Salvadoran independence day, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings releases '¡Soy Salvadoreño!', an album of chanchona music by the El Salvadoran expatriate family-band Los Hermanos Lovo. The collection, comprised of Salvadoran standards, borrowed songs from other genres, and two original compositions, stands as a true representation of the musical style that has become synonymous with the group's homeland. '¡Soy Salvadoreño! is the 32nd release in the Smithsonian Folkways Tradiciones/Traditions series since 2002. The series, a co-production with the Smithsonian Latino Center, showcases the diverse musical heritage of the 50 million Latinos living in the USA. Los Hermanos Lovo violinist and bandleader Trinidad Lovo and many of his family members left El Salvador for Northern Virginia during the civil war that tore their homeland apart in the late 1980s, but they brought traditional chanchona music with them. Six of the seven members are from the extended Lovo family -- Trinidad, drummer Yonatan Fuentes, vihuelist Édgar, violinist Cristino Membreño, guitarist Eliseo Membreño and bassist Hozmín -- and brother-in-law Alfredo Fuentes rounds out the group. Los Hermanos Lovo feature dual violin melodies and dance-inducing cumbia rhythms -- like those on "El carnaval de mi tierra" ("The Carnival of My Land") -- and the ...

Wedding Dash 4-Ever Level 1.1 ~ 1.3

This is the latest(in 2010) Wedding Dash game. In this game, we don't have to choose items for wedding. This is a good news. But you must find some objects hidden in the background to get a present in each level. If you gather 50 present boxes, you can play the last mini game level in the center of map. You can choose the difficulty. Though I don't know what does the difficulty do, I'll select Firecracker(harder one). If you change difficulty, the score in firecracker levels will be switched. Well, I don't care, cause I'll play only firecracker mode. Basic system is the same as before, but you must move customers to the dance floor by yourself. You can click incomplete dishes to cook them faster. From Level 1.3, you can serve newlyweds. Some levels include pre-wedding ceremonies and conga line dances. In ceremony levels, you have to seat customers according to their requests. In conga line levels, you have to reach newlyweds to earn more tokens.

Bunker Hill Comm. College Leadership Week Drum Workshop Jan.10, 2012 Pt 2

In this part of the workshop we talk about leadership needing to find and have common ground within the group. The metaphor used is that of being a spoke in a wheel. The closer you get to the center, "The more you see we are all alike!" All differences that we share go away and we are left with the purest of our humanity as people. We then broke the group up into two sides and showed them a rhythm we created called The Malden. We showed the group how there can be conflicting ideas between people, but then showed them how two different ideas can go together and be a good thing. We had them not only bring two different drum rhythms together, but even cause them to have a mini drum conga line. What the group got from this exercise was to focus on similarities rather then differences within the group when more then one idea is brought to the table. They were able to see that when you have trust in the moment and each other that multiple ideas can work together in harmony and not chaos. We then decided to mix it up and randomly pick people to come up and put them on the spot to make a rhythm in the moment and then lead the rest of the group with their idea when being put on the spot and not having any time to think about what they were doing.
